Guide
There may be a few things contained within this site that are a bit foreign to you.
Hopefully this guide (I was going to call it a manual but that I thought that sounded a bit wanky)
will clear those things up. I'm only going to explain here what I think might need
explaining, and I'm sorry if I miss a few things although there's plenty I didn't
include because it's not my fault if you're computer challenged.
Posts
A post is a very uncreative word used to describe a user-contributed article,
and only registered users can make a post. Posts can be viewed from either the
Word page or the Archive,
depending on how old they are.
Everything contained within a post is very straight forward, an ID, title, body,
author and timestamp. You can not make a post without a title or body. A post
can also contain up to 3 flags.
Flags
Flags are displayed underneath the timestamp of a post and show the following:
|
Archive
|
Which version of the lads is this from?
lads 1 - the original.
lads 2: lads - the second version (lads).
lads 2: lasses - the second version (lasses).
lads 3 - the current version.
|
|
Gender
|
Is the post by a lad or lass?
lad - a lad.
lass - a lass.
|
|
Display
|
Is the post public or private?
public - visible by all viewers of the site.
private - visible only to registered users.
|

The flags are highlighted in red.
Comments
This function allows registered users to make comments on a post. These can be
viewed by clicking on the comments link below a post, or opening a post from the
Archive. You can not make a comment without a body. A
comment is similar in format to a post however instead of a title it contains a:
|
Post ID
|
The reference number of the post which the comment is attached to.
|
|
Parent ID
|
The reference number of the comment which the comment is in reply to.
|

The Post ID and Parent ID are highlighted in red.
Word (Word)
The index page. Only posts made in the last 7 days - to a limit of 10 posts - are displayed here. These
limits are put in place to speed up loading times. To view older posts, use the
Archive.
The Archive (Archive)
All posts and comments that have ever been made on the site are listed here. They
are listed 50 at a time, and browsing through the posts can be done with the
"newer" and "older" links below the list.
The Users page (Users)
All registered users of the site are listed here.
Who's on
Located at the bottom of the navigation. Unless a user has chosen not to have this
information displayed, the Who's on box shows all registered users currently
interacting with the site. A bit of a novelty really.
Registered users
As you might have concluded, almost all interactivity with this site requires you
to be a registered user. If you're not, there's a fair bit you're missing out on.
